Tom Sanderson: organ, bass, drums
Alan Sanderson: guitars
Notes
This jam was a rough recording done in a single session. It started with Tom on the bass and Alan on the guitar playing over a simple click track beat. Then Tom laid down a drum track to replace the click track. On the third round through Tom played the organ while Alan played the rhythm guitar. Each instrument was recorded in a single take, with the exception of the rhythm guitar which required two takes because the track wasn’t record-enabled for the first one. The guitars were recorded with a close-mic to the amplifier. Alan took these tracks home and mixed and mastered them with minimal editing.
Tom was singing some wordless vocals while playing the bass (these aren’t very audible on the recording but represent some possible melody ideas). It was Tom’s first time playing bass on a recording in several months and he felt great to shake off some of the “rust”
This was the first recording done in Pyramid Music Lab. Tom recently moved close to Alan, so we will be playing music together in real time and in real space. We plan to post recordings from these jam sessions from time to time. They will be a little rough around the edges, and unlike the polished songs we spend weeks and weeks creating. Hopefully they will be interesting and fun for you to hear.
